About the IFR

About IFR

Built to strengthen confidence in reflexology.

IFR was founded in 1983 by professional reflexologists who wanted stronger training, professional competence and public confidence.

Professional standards that serve practitioners and protect public confidence.

The founders of IFR believed that the profession needed stronger training standards and a dependable way for members of the public to identify practitioners committed to care and competence.

IFR was constituted with its own Constitution, Code of Ethics and Practice and disciplinary procedure. Its membership includes professionally qualified practitioners and people undertaking professional reflexology training.

Four decades of professional continuity.

Established in 1983, IFR has developed its work across membership, public information, education, standards and continuing professional development.

Since its inception, IFR has been a major representative voice for reflexology in government and governmental processes around the world. In the UK, IFR worked with other professional bodies to establish the Reflexology Forum and to publish the Core Curriculum for Reflexology, helping to create a shared foundation for education and professional standards.
