Services to members are wide ranging and include the following:

Referrals

Research has shown that reflexologists prefer to have potential clients vetted by the I.F.R before being referred to them for treatment. Conversely enquiries come in from the public in search of a reflexologist in their area as the public prefer the I.F.R to recommend someone rather than find one themselves in the Yellow Pages or on the Web.

In each country the I.F.R holds a database of members and will contact members in cases where a client has requested contact with them, so that they are able to contact the client directly. Names and Telephone details are given out but no further information. Branches will deal with enquiries in their own countries but work through the umbrella organisation (based in the UK).

Low Cost Insurance Cover

All practitioners/therapists who establish themselves in practice must have in place, as a condition of membership, public and professional liability insurance. Insurance is a service provided to members at a low cost in order to protect them for claims against public and professional liability.

Insurance cover for IFR members costs £46.00.

The policy covers:-

•  Indemnity limit: £4,000,000 Unlimited number of claims a year and unlimited legal defence costs

•  Further therapies/activities may be added at no additional premium

•  Professional Indemnity, Medical Malpractice, Public & Products Liability, Loss of Reputation, Breach of Intellectual Property, Client Confidentiality Protection, Loss of Documents, First Aid

•  Retro-active cover to pick up any previously insured work performed 

•  Run off cover included for an unlimited period to ensure that you are protected if a claim was made after the policy is stopped for work done in the policy period

•  £100,000 Disciplinary Hearings Defence cover / Legal Defence of your legal rights involving Criminal Proceedings, Data Protection, wrongful arrest, actions against you for unlawful discrimination

•  £100,000 Negotiation and representation in event of HMRC partial or full enquiry

•  Wide range of free 24 hour Advice lines, including Legal/Tax Advice

•  Jury or Witness Service Compensation

•  Covered to work anywhere in UK as well as temporary cover for work abroad with no time restrictions (excl USA and Canada)

•  No extra charges for replacement certificates / changes to your policy

Free Technical and Professional Advice and Support
The I.F.R. Practitioner/Therapist helpline is a very popular service and the I.F.R staff receive between 50 and 100 calls a day asking for advice on a particular matter.

Representation (Government & Professional)

In addition to direct benefits, members also gain indirectly from the work the I.F.R carries out on their behalf in many key areas. The I.F.R is a member of the Reflexology Forum and the Forum’s Committee on Education and Training, which is the national organisation for standard setting in Reflexology in the U.K.

As a member of these groups the I.F.R is able to represent members at the highest level and have a direct influence on the development of reflexology in the UK. Regular reports and information on progress in these areas are provided to members via the magazine and on the Website.

Receipt of magazine “Stepping Out” The Professional Magazine of the IFR

This magazine brings members reflexology news, seminar reports, interesting case studies, in-depth coverage of specific conditions, interviews, education and training reports, letters, area news, book reviews and much more. I.F.R members receive “Stepping Out” free of charge as part of their membership package (or ‘Friends’ may subscribe to the magazine). The magazine also includes free event listing and advertising for members.
