How
to become a Reflexologist
Hundreds of
courses are offered in reflexology and it is sometimes difficult
to identify what is suitable for your needs.
The student
professional therapist must attend a course that offers at least
the minimum standards of training which are:
- Anatomy
Physiology and Pathology forms a compulsory part of training.
- First Aid
should be studied to an acceptable standard and certificate
of competency issued (example - St John ambulance, Red Cross).
- You should
be taught by a competent tutor who has at least three years’
experience as a practising reflexologist and who will have the
support of an experienced and competent tutor, who has a minimum
of five years experience in practising Reflexology. All teachers
should hold a recognised teaching qualification.
- The course
should require you to attend a minimum of 100 teaching hours.
- Home study
should be of at least 150 hours.
- Case Studies
should number not less than 12 clients.
- Presentation
of a portfolio of guided home study is required for external
examination.
- Presentation
of Case Studies is required for external examination.
- The Anatomy-Physiology-Pathology
element of the course will be externally examined.
- Assessment
will include two written papers, a viva voce examination and
a practical element. These components will also be externally
examined.
- Overall,
your course will cover 620 hours.
